Frequently Asked Questions

Q : What are the advantages of being a Spanish resident?
A : Tax wise, a long discussion can be held on this subject, depending on individual cases. In general, if you live and work here, there are substantial benefits. You will find that quite a lot of bureaucratical things go a lot faster, and capital gains tax is a lot less if you sell your first property. See more on our Spanish Residency section

Q : What is the
Benahavis citizens card?
A: The Benahavis citizens card is a yearly renewable card offering you free access to the sports installations in Benahavis, such as the local swimming pool, the paddle and tennis courts and the municipal gym. As there are basically no activities for adults, the yearly cost, provided you apply for it on time is only 10 Euros, since the rest will be subsidized. However, if you are to late to apply, the cost multiply enormously, to 200 Euros.
For kids the price is 20 Euros ( i.e. 400 ) if you want to included the organised activities, such as swimming, tennis and golf lessons, as well as dance and art classes.
Update 29/01. The activities are :
KARATE : kids and adults
Tuesday and Thursday 18.30H until 20.30H, old gym, Las Lomas
GOLF : kids
Monday 16.00H until 18.00H,  driving range.
TENNIS : kids
Saturday 10.00H until 13.00H,  sports pavillion.
DANCE : kids
Wednesday from 15.30H,  local school.

Q : What if we want to play football on the Benahavis football pitch?
A : Call the townhall on the number on the right of this page.

Q : When is the Benahavis
market day?
A : The market in Benahavis is on tuesday. For all other markets in the area, see our shopping section.

Q : When do they bring
gasbottles up to the village?
A : Gasbottles from Repsol ( the orange ones ) are delivered on wednesday morning. Just place your empty bottle outside, and it will be replaced. If you are not at home, leave the money with a neighbour, or underneath. If you want extra gasbottles, Repsol San Pedro is just off the roundabout of the Ronda road with the toll highway.
The petrol station on the bottom of the road sells the silver gasbottles, which require a different connection.

Q : I want to
sell or rent out my apartment in Benahavis, what would be the best way to go?
A : Well, of course it would be this site, you do not pay comission, just a small one off payment, but there are several Real Estate agenies in the village and on the coast..
